I have proof!

I never thought this day would come with how bald Cora has been since she was born. I remember with how fast the delivery was I really didn’t get a chance to take in all of her features until a little bit later, and I remember thinking that along with being very long and tiny, she really is quite bald!

Fast forward 15 months later and here it is… proof that my little chunky monkey… okay, not so chunky, my lean (sweet) stringbean is finally getting some hair. She actually has a little curl on the back of her head! It is even thick enough to hold a hair clip. It looks a little strange with just a clip hanging onto her hair, but hey, I’m embracing what I have to work with!

At this age (actually at birth!) Elliot had a full head of hair for me to play with. I think I got spoiled :-)

It’s so fun to see how different the girls are from each other and how their personalities are continuing to grow and develop. I think it will still be awhile before Cora can really start accessorizing with cute little bows and clips in her hair. The time will come… until then I will enjoy not having to hold her down while I try and de-tangle her hair after bath-time like I have to do with a certain little somebody – I won’t mention any names…

right now – week ???

right-now-challengeI know, I know… I’m way behind on the Right Now Challenge. I’ll blame it on the holidays :-) Since my last post, the girls have had their moments and I’ve tried to write them down as they happen. Here’s what’s been going on:

– Cora’s hair is coming in, yay! At 15 months she finally has a little curl at the back of her head, which can even hold a hair clippy!

– Elliot is now loving daycare! It took her a few weeks, actually about four weeks of screaming and hanging on me and yelling “Don’t leave!” as I walk out the door, but she finally realized that she has a ton of fun and that we actually came back to pick her up.

– Cora now clearly says NALA, UP, YEAH and PSST, along with MAMA and DADA. She still says a lot and gives us her two cents, we just don’t know what she’s saying.

– Elliot learned a song about bumblebees and now sings at all the time, “I’m bringing home a baby bumblebee…. OUCH, it stung me!”

– Cora now says CHEESE and gives a cheesy, awkwardly cute smile on command, except when I have a camera handy, go figure.

– We’ve got a little Miss Attitude in our house. “Okay, fine. I don’t care!” Bet you can’t guess which one it is?!

– Elliot is now speaking full sentences and you can have a full conversation with her. It’s so fun to see her vocabulary expand and grow everyday. She’s got one word that she says “ORDINATED” that we’re not sure what she means but everything we try and correct her she gets more frustrated and keeps saying the same word over and over. And when I laugh she says “It’s NOT funny!” We’re still working on figuring out what she means…

– Cora is such a little explorer, into everything and is so fast!!

Both girls continue to grow closer together and are having conversations with each other. It’s so sweet to look over and see Elliot hugging or pulling her sister along or see Cora nodding her head to whatever gibberish her sister is saying to her. It won’t be long before they’re sharing and stealing each others clothes. (Enjoy these moments now…)

big girl bed

We surprised Elliot with a big-girl bed for Christmas. We put little red felt pieces outside the door and told her Santa had came to visit. She thought the red pieces of felt were from her “project” and didn’t think anything of it until there were more pieces going up the stairs leading up to her room. She decided to following the felt pieces and opened her door to find the brand new bed. Her exclamation was priceless: “WOW!”

She’s done really well with staying in her bed at night. The first couple of nights she wasn’t sure if she wanted to sleep in it, but after telling her that Santa worked really hard at putting her bed together and he would be sad if she didn’t sleep in it, she decided she would try it out. It’s been a couple weeks and she loves showing it off to anyone that comes over!

My little punkin is growing up…

christmas 2012

Well, Christmas has once again come and gone in a flash. We spend weeks and weeks prepping for it by decorating the house, baking, wrapping and all of a sudden it’s gone. It seems like as soon as you hype it up and and have done everything and have a second to relax and breath… it’s here and over. This year was no different. It seems like it went even faster with two monkeys running around. The holiday was really fun with the girls, stressful at times, but overall really exciting and rewarding.

Elliot loved being Santa’s helper and delivering all the presents to everyone and she pretty much understood the meaning of Christmas. She even had chocolate cake Christmas night and fell asleep singing “Happy Birthday” to Baby Jesus.

Cora didn’t quite understand what was going on, but loved unwrapping and playing with all of her new toys – a toy vacuum being one of her favorites that makes an appearance every time Mommy’s vacuum comes out. It’s pretty cute actually!

Though the holidays are full of hustle & bustle, it is a special chance to get together with all of our family members. My parents had 18 people at their home this year,  which is a lot of people in one space. It was definitely chaotic; a lot of food, drinks, cookies, chocolate-tinis, noise… but it was a chance to just be together. We are so blessed that our family is all healthy and happy. Here are a few pictures of the girls both at my parents house on Christmas Eve and our house Christmas morning.
